Monthly Goals (2012)

31 Jan

Guess what today is? The last day of January – how are your 2012 resolutions holding up?

Here’s the thing resolutions are only good if we stick to them, so instead of trying to make 1 big resolution and if we fall short feel bad, try making monthly goals instead.

In short, there could be some monthly goals you might have then tackle 1 each month for the rest of the year, this will feel more rewarding (and productive)  to you because you will achieve your result in 4 weeks not 52…yay!

Some suggestions could be:

  • House Projects
  • Cooking more meals at Home
  • Learning something new (i.e. sewing)
  • Take a class (pottery, foreign language ?)
  • Working out to be Fit & Healthy
  • Getting involved in community service

I don’t know what your goals are but you do, so make them a priority each day and month and before you know it you will have achieved a lot this year.

“Arriving at one goal is the starting point to another” – Fyodor Dostoevski

29 Jan

Today, I am bringing you the Pee-Pee TeePee, okay I know the name is funny, but if you have a son these can be amazing.

I also want to emphasize these are ALL NATURAL so no need to worry about it being close to baby’s sensitive skin.

These are intended to cover him to avoid spraying during diaper changes and usually work well on younger babies – 6 months and under.  These maybe the alternative you have been looking for to a washcloth.

Get your Credit Score for FREE

27 Jan

As many of you know Credit Scores are an important factor in obtaining a loan, and having a good credit score will help you get a loan with a lower interest rate therefore a lower monthly payment (car, house, personal loan, etc.).

So, today I wanted to discuss with you about obtaining your free credit report

  • First of all, EVERYONE is entitled to 1 Free credit score 1 time a year
  • You need to know how to get your free score in order to check it without it costing you a dime (too many programs charge you to see your score, or debit a monthly subscription charge). Here is how I get mine COMPLETELY FREE
  • Go to myFICO
  • Create an account (if your a returning customer you will just Log-In after the first time)
  • Then Select to Get your Free Fico Score (this will automatically enroll you in Score Watch which will COST $14.95 month if not cancelled within 10 days, minimum of 3 months)
  • You will now be able to view & print your credit score and report
  • After you have printed your credit score & report from 1,2 or all 3 credit bureaus, you need to cancel your subscription to Score Watch
  • I have NEVER had a problem canceling (you have 10 days to do so, this never is a problem for me I always have cancelled within 3 days since I just view and print all my reports I have no need for Score Watch)
  • How to Cancel is simple: Go to your account and Click on “Support Center” then select “Cancel my Subscription to Score Watch”
  • Understand once you cancel you will NO longer have ACCESS to your credit score & report so please print them beforehand
  • Then either call or use the online form to cancel, I have always used the online form and have never had any trouble (I have used this for several years and have never been billed once)
  • This here is the On-line form

The reason I do not pay for Score Watch or any other score monitoring company that charges is I use Credit Karma – its a web based, online completely free program that gives you a real financial snapshot and it provides you with a credit score and your report. You can log into your account and check your credit score as often as you want and it’s totally free.

I really hope these resources helps you and your family  (tell your friends too) to get on the right track to financial know-how and empowerment.

Massaging baby is very important its good for emotional bonding and helps them sleep better. (Maybe a few more hours for you to get some sleep to 🙂

Here’s some tips to give your baby a great massage:

  • Remove any rings
  • Make sure your nails are short and clean – to prevent scratching baby
  • Make sure your hands are warm
  • If you use an oil – make sure its a natural one lacking any artificial fragrance (think Coconut, Olive, or Jojoba Oil)
  • Make sure the massage is gently, don’t exert to much pressure on the baby
  • Don’t put oil on the babies hands or face (to make sure baby avoids putting it in her/his eyes)
  • Massage in circles for the chest & back – this will help break up congestion as well
  • Avoid massaging around any open cuts, scratches or the umbilical cord until it has healed

Preventing Stretch Marks

24 Jan

Just because the statistics say you might get stretch marks, doesn’t mean you have to lie down and accept it. There is a lot more things you can do to prevent them than you make think. Here is a checklist for what to do pre- and post pregnancy to keep them away.

  • Yes, genetics plays a part, if your mother has stretch marks you might or you might not
  • Drink plenty of  water, its important to drink half your body weight in water (if you weigh 120 lbs drink = 60 ounces of water), if you don’t like the taste of water, I’m sorry there is NO alternative, you need to do this for you and baby, however I like to add lemons or limes to my water in general to add a nice flavor
  • Also, include eating more food with higher water levels (think fruits and veggies) and plenty of protein
  • Gently exfoliate your skin – with an organic/all-natural (Chemicals are never safe, but are super dangerous during pregnancy) scrub or dry body brush after showering
  • Also, apply oils to your skin that lock in moisture (make a combination of oils to get the best benefit and Vitamin E oil is proven very effective, just don’t apply it straight – I suggest mixing oils to get the most benefits from each) A great mixture include: Coconut Oil, Vitamin E oil, and Argan or Sea Buckthorne Oil all of which you can purchase here. I then suggest mixing these in a glass jar with lid and store in a cool dry place.
  • Then apply a moisturizer/ stretch mark prevention cream from an all natural skincare line – to leave your skin soft and supply (remember stretch marks are little tears in the skin due to lack of elasticity)
  • Wear a baby support bandage check out this one
  • Now, remember to continue to do this routine after your beautiful baby is born, skin still needs that pampering in order to properly hydrate and prevent marks

Walmart’s Deals

23 Jan

Saving money is very important when your having a baby, and its very important to not waste money on things that are disposables (like diapers) so its important to find the BEST deals on these items.

Today, I am bringing you I Heart the Mart – its a website ran by Paul, who’s a father of 7 kids and he runs this website, updating you on all the best coupons available at Wal-Mart, but also the pharmacy stores (think CVS, Walgreens). Paul’s site is great because he really explains how couponing actually works, what can be combined to give you the best discounts and online promotions.

These deals extend to all categories: groceries, beauty, toys, electronics, etc.

Remember when something goes on sale like diapers, buy plenty because its not a perishable item, and you can store them easily in a closet or under a crib.
